Yew Furniture
Hand-polished yew furniture from England
Here you will find hand-polished yew furniture straight from England! In small South English workshops we build authentic yew furniture such as display cases, sideboards, desks and many small pieces of furniture. Yew is a very popular wood: it is sturdy, beautiful and of high quality. It is also very easy to carve. Therefore traditional yew furniture from England is often decorated with detailed carvings. Some pieces are also decorated with lovely inlays of ebony, satinwood, rosewood or mahogany. Yew furniture from England is one of the most popular solid wood furniture styles – for reasons! Gladly look around and convince yourself.

Hand-polished solid wood furniture in the tradition of Heldense and Bevan Funnell
Hand-polished solid wood furniture in the style of olden days was the sensation in the seventies and eighties. Productions of the companies Heldense and Bevan Funnell have found a great response among lovers of English furniture. To the slightly darker classic mahogany furniture, the yew furniture has brought a nice contrast in the living room. Hand-polished solid wood furniture of yew can also be wonderfully combined with classic cherry wood furniture. Solid wood furniture of yew is made in a great variety: Starting with the small furniture such as side tables up to the large living room cabinet with six doors and six drawers. The fine, not always restrained structure of the yew veneers, partly with dark wood sequences, make this wood look so interesting. Nothing fits better than a beautiful English hand polish as it is now dominated only in England. The English Polisher is indeed a dying, but still much sought-after profession.
Here is our special advice: Combine the beautiful solid wood furniture in yew with a Chesterfield sofa.
Yew chests of drawers, yew secretaries and yew cupboards
English yew chests of drawers come in very different shapes. We build them in England with a nice curved front, the so-called Bow Front Chest or with a nice serpent front, the Serpentine Chest. Just like the yew chests of drawers the English yew secretaries are happy to be complemented with a fine black ribbon intarsia. The fronts of yew cupboards and yew secretaries are often equipped with a highly structured yew veneer, while the sides are kept rather quiet. The same goes for yew chests of drawers. English yew cupboards are also often placed in dark rooms. Even rooms that are oppressive by dark Chesterfield sofas can be brightened up through yew furniture.
