The antique chaise longue as Victorian seating
The antique chaise longue was created in France in the 18th century. The French name "Chaise Longue" - long chair - indicates that it was originally an elongated chair or armchair. First the French extended an armchair with a stool or a pouf. Soon, however, they developed a piece of furniture, which is now known as Chaise Longue and consists of one piece.
